Hanna

May 29, 2011

Ah the joys of not going to see another Hollywood movie, sometimes you need to escape all that Hollywood glamour and get down to the nitty gritty stuff. Thats what Hanna does, brought to you by Joe Wright, it tells the story of Hanna Heller played by Saoirse Ronan as a 14-year-old girl who lives with her father, Erik Heller who is played by Eric Bana. The movie takes us through all the thrills and spills of Hanna trying to find herself in this new and exiting world whilst trying to escape Marissa Wiegler, a very scary CIA agent who is played fantastically by Cate Blanchett. Think of this movie as Lara Croft but not English, with better acting and a more thought provoking story line.

This movie is fantastic if you are bored of all the Hollywood clap trap and fancy exploring a new more european style of cinema filmed from a very edgy, close angled and brash point of view. Hey, even the music by The Chemical Brother is new and exiting. Hanna seems to breath new life into the spy thrillers genre mainly thanks to a combination of great acting and a twisting ‘what the hells going on’ plot.
